Brooklinen has dominated the bedding landscape with high-quality bedroom basics for the last 12 years. Over the last year, the brand has focused on updating its assortment with an emphasis on better materials and durability. First, they revamped their classic linen, overhauled their down program and improved the signature plush bath towels and robes. Now, it's time for the brand's flagship product and my Brooklinen holy grail to get the upgrade treatment: The Luxe Sateen Sheets. Having tested dozens of the best sheets, this is the exact set I've turned to time and time again since 2020.

Brooklinen is describing its new Sateen 2.0 as "luxier." As a fan of the original, I didn't necessarily think the OG set needed revamping, but Brooklinen says it spent three years considering customer feedback and fabric research to reimagine its sheets. After two weeks of trying the new sheets, I'll definitely be keeping them in my bedding rotation. They retain the same signature cozy softness, with subtle construction upgrades designed to enhance breathability, durability, and longevity.

Brooklinen's Luxe Sateen Core Sheet set is designed with an incredibly smooth feel that gets softer over time. Its tight weave is silky, soft, and versatile for year-round use. It was revamped in summer 2026 with an enhanced thread count and long-staple cotton fibers.

Here's what's different

Let's talk specs: the new Luxe Sateen Sheets are produced and sewn in Portugal. Brooklinen says the finer long-staple cotton and slightly higher thread count are meant to improve softness, durability, breathability, and drape. In practice, the differences are subtle: the new sheets feel a little thicker and smoother, but not dramatically different from the original Luxe Sateen set, which also used long-staple cotton fibers.

Brooklinen increased the thread count to 495 from 480. This subtle change makes the sheets more durable, and less sheer. It also has a unspecified finish that reduces sheen. I didn't quite notice this change, but sateen is typically regarded as shinier when compared to coarser weaves like percale. Brooklinen added a "B" logo tag to the side edge of the flat sheet.

At launch, the sheets are available in 16 evergreen colorways, echoing the same colors these sheets replace, plus seven seasonal colors including stripes and florals. The sheets continue to be offered in the classic Core Sheet Set, your standard 4-piece set, the Hardcore Sheet Bundle, which includes a sheet set, plus a duvet cover and extra pillow cases, as well as in individually and other sets. However, they were not without a small price increase of about $10, with the Core set now starting at $229 for a queen.

What's the same?

The Long and Short side tags that make for easier and faster bed-making and that are a staple of Brooklinen's construction remain. The pillowcases still have envelope closures, though I noticed the back stitching to have a slightly larger trim border.

Brooklinen's sheets are still OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, an independent certification that proves has been rigorously tested and deemed safe from over 1,000 harmful substances.

The sheets still fit mattresses up to 16 inches thick. The elasticized fitted sheet holds snug to the bed and didn't shift.

How the Luxe Sateen sheets feel

The Luxe Sateen sheets retain their smooth and buttery luster that is characteristic of sateen sheets. They're Brooklinen's softest option, best suited for those looking for year-round cozy comfort. The material also feels slightly thicker, but I'm also comparing to a sheet set going on six years and countless wash cycles.

They're breathable, to the degree that I didn't feel myself kicking off the sheets in the middle of the night, but if you are extremely temperature sensitive, I suggest exploring Brooklinen's more cooling sheets options, like linen or percale. Brooklinen's percale a crisp, airy feel, while the washed linen has a more relaxed, slightly textured feel with unmatched temperature regulation.

I'll need more time and repeated wash cycles to fully assess Brooklinen's durability claims, but after the first wash, I didn't notice shrinkage, pilling, or a change in fit.

What I didn't love

One change with these sheets I would have loved to see from Brookline is the introduction of a fabric sleeve rather than the plastic wrapping these sheets come in. Not only would it add a more luxurious element to unboxing, but they're practical to store bedding in and also directly compare how quality enhances (or deteriorates) from use over time.

Also, with this launch, while Brooklinen maintains its core color palette of creams, taupes, and blues, I would have loved to see more integration of colors, like pink or purple, and even grey. There are a lot of similar shades, mostly designed for easy mixing and matching, but I would have liked more shade diversity.

The bottom line

Brooklinen's Luxe Sateen 2.0 builds on the brand's commitment to quality and durability. If you're actively looking to refresh your bedding, add a second set, or have fun with the seasonal colorways, you can't go wrong with upgrading today.

That said, this is a classic case where, if you already own and love the Luxe Sateen Set, you may not notice a dramatic side-by-side difference. The updates are incremental, but they make an already great sheet set feel just a little more refined.

Buy if : you want soft, smooth, slightly weightier sheets and like a polished sateen feel.

Skip if: you sleep very hot, prefer crisp sheets, already own Luxe Sateen in good condition, or want a dramatic 2.0 upgrade.
